Paxymer is the first Swedish manufacturer to be identified as POPs-free by UNEP
Paxymer is free from persistent organic chemicals (POPs) according to testing undertaken by the Environmental Agency of Austria (EEA). Paxymer participated in a UNEP pilot project aimed at identifying POPs-free products. EAA has tested a number of products for the 21 substances that are on the prohibition list in the Stockholm Convention. The report shows that Paxymer does not contain any of the substances.

Paxymer is one of the companies that are participating in an UNEP initiative that is aimed at giving consumers and industry the possibility to identify and choose materials that are free from POPs. The EAA made extensive tests for 21 POPs according to the most exact measurements methods that we have today.
This project is ahead of current legislation and the purpose is to portray the products and companies that go the whole nine yards and truly have an environmental and health focused development. Paxymer has always worked for elimination of substances with bio-accumulating, hormone disrupting and carcinogenic properties; something that is also demanded of the companies participating in the project that is expected to expand during 2011.

The Stockholm Convention is an international treaty that regulates toxic and persistence substances. It is an agreement between 172 states that are committed to eliminating the problem of dangerous chemicals released into the environment and that remain in our bodies. The list has 21 substances, i.e. PFOS, PDBE, Bisphenol-A, PCB and DDT.
The Stockholm convention POPs-free Products Pilot project is lead by the Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention, administered by the United Nations Environment Programme. Paxymer IN-103 has been tested as a part of the project and does not contain tested substances to the defined detection limit.

Paxymer UNEP-certifieras som första svenska materialtillverkare
Paxymer är garanterat fritt från långlivade kemikalier. Genom ett unikt projekt inom UNEP (United nations environment programme) har Paxymers produkt testats av EAA (Environmental Angency Austria) för de 28 substanser som idag finns upptagna på förbudslistan i Stockholmskonventionen. Rapporten visar att Paxymer inte innehåller någon av substanserna.
”Vi är mycket stolta över att vara med i det här projektet, det är efter dessa kriterier vi alltid arbetat. Vi har länge sagt att ett av de stora problemen är att konsumenten eller företaget inte ens vet om att de köper produkter som innehåller de här ämnena. Certifieringar där objektiva aktörer får styrka det leverantörerna hävdar är en mycket viktig del i att få bukt med problemen.” säger Amit Paul, VD för Paxymer AB.
Paxymer ingår som ett av företagen i ett initiativ från UNEP (FNs miljöprogram) att ge konsumenter och industri möjligheter att välja material fria från långlivade kemikalier (s.k. POPs). Initiativet går ut på att låta ett objektivt testinstitut testa för dessa substanser enligt de mest exakta metoder som finns idag.
Projektet är unikt och går betydligt längre än existerande lagstiftning. Syftet är att lyfta fram företag som löper linan ut och har ett verkligt miljö- och hälsoengagemang i sin utveckling. Paxymer har alltid arbetat för eliminering av ämnen med bio-ackumulerande, hormonstörande och cancerogen karaktär. Något som också avkrävs de företag som deltar i pilotprojektet som kommer att rullas ut i större skala under 2011.

Stockholm konventionen och POPs
Stockholm konventionen är en överenskommelse som gäller giftiga och persistenta substanser. En frivillig överenskommelse mellan stater som arbetar för att få bukt med problemen kring de farliga kemikalier som idag blir kvar i våra kroppar. Listan innehåller 28 ämnen som bland annat PFOS, PDBE, Bisfenol-A, PCB och DDT.
